Pakistan’s efforts to eliminate child labour

The government of Pakistan has not been wholly blind to this.In 2017, Sindh passed a law banning children under the age of 14 from hazardous work.Secondly, the ILO(International Labour Organisation) has endeavoured to rehabilitate child labourers and spread awareness and encourage data collection; there has only been one survey regarding child labour.Furthermore, The Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act decrees a sentence of atleast two years and/or a fine of atleast 50000 PKR to anyone employing child labour.Children are not allowed to work for more than 7 hours(including a recess of one hour) or between 7p.m and 8 a.m.Lastly, a gargantuan feat has been accomplished in the football manufacturing factories of Sialkot; 7000 child labourers were employed prior to 1999.Currently, those 7000 children are receiving education as part of a rehabilation plan.
